Chevrolet's Advertising and Public Relations Part I

Back in 2006, Chevrolet teamed up with NBC's show The Apprentice which had a contest advertising their new 2006 Chevy Tahoe. Consumers visited a special Chevy website were they had the opportunity to arrange music clips and videos in order to create their own commercial. Consumers with the best commercial would win a new Chevy Tahoe as a reward. Unfortunately, this goal backfired due to the negative feedback towards this form of advertisement. It showed that Chevrolet did factor possible downfalls for the use of its commercials and showcase of the Tahoe. Advertising is a form of impersonal, paid communication in which the sponsor or company is identified.
